Who Requires This Training?

Do you employ staff and have a workplace? Then you need this...

The Queensland Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008 (BFSR) says General Evacuation Instruction must be provided to all workers within 2 days of them starting, and renewed every 12 months.

As well as general evacuation, First Response Evacuation Instruction must be provided to all workers within 1 month of them starting, and renewed every 2 years.

General Evacuation Instruction covers items listed on the evacuation diagram for the building and procedures for evacuation. First Response Evacuation Instruction covers the use of the fire alams and fire-fighting equipment in your building, and includes a demonstration of the use of said equipment.

To make it easy for you to remember which training has been completed, we have combined both courses and will deliver this every 12 months for you.

Other Legal Stuff You Should Know

The legislation also says the training must be specific to your workplace (so watch out for those 'generic' courses), and it must align with your emergency plan (because, of course, you have one don't you?)

If you're starting to glance around nervously... you can relax. We can help you put together an emergency plan and diagrams*, so you can feel at ease that you're on top of this fire safety stuff. Once you have your plan and diagrams, we will build this into the course, and make it your very own customised experience.

Referring back to that pesky legislation again, you also have to re-train everyone as soon as there are any significant changes to your building, procedures or diagrams, so you best be on top of things in the first place.

*Please note cost of creation of emergency plans and diagrams are a separate price to this course. Please contact us for a quote.

What Do I Get?

Your organisation will receive a customised training solution where your employees and contractors will be trained to your own emergency plans and procedures. Upon booking a course, our team member will ask for the following documents:

  1. Emergency Plan - this document should outline who the wardens are for your organisation, and how emergency evacuation has been planned.
  2. Fire and Evacuation Procedures - these are often included in the plan. If they are not, we will require a copy.
  3. Evacuation Diagram or Sign - again, this may be in your plan. If not, you need to supply a copy, or take a photo of the one on the wall.
  4. A photo of the outside of your building.
  5. A digital version of your logo (high-resolution and prefereably with a transparent background).

Once you have supplied your plans and diagrams, your customised course will include the following:

  • Your logo on the presentation
  • Your evacuation diagram will be shown and explained in the course
  • A picture of your building will be shown, and if you have a fire control panel, this will also be shown and explained
  • Any procedures you have will be distributed and discussed as part of the course
  • Your emergency alarms and first response fire-fighting equipment will be explained and demonstrations organised

State of the Art Digital Simulation

Total Management and Training utilises the BullEx BullsEye Laser Driven Fire Training System. BullsEye senses where the user aims and sweeps a laser training extinguisher and automatically varies the LED driven digital flames in response. The BullsEye’s electronic control system responds to the trainees’ actions, putting the fire out only when the extinguisher is used correctly. Because only laser light is emitted from the training extinguisher, extinguisher training can now be conducted in training rooms, board-rooms, meeting rooms — virtually anywhere.

We can also create realistic training scenarios in any environment. The BullsEye can be positioned in hallways, hotel rooms, ship decks, shop floors, or storage areas to create a variety of realistic training experiences.

Optional - Mini-Inspection

The audit consists of a 1 hour 'mini-inspection' prior to the training delivery, where the trainer will spot-check a section of the facility where the training is to take place, to determine fire safety compliance with regards to evacuation signage and emergency equipment.

A checklist showing the result of the mini-inspection will be provided to the client at the conclusion of training.
